TITLE:
Customer Service Representative (24 hours/week, $9/hr pay rate)
REPORTS TO: Customer
Service Supervisor
SUMMARY OF
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the
direct supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor, the
Customer Service Representative is responsible for greeting
people in a pleasant manner. As a highly visible representative
of the Anderson Animal Shelter, the Customer Service Agent will
always be helpful and respectful when directing the public
either on phone calls or in person.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Have an adequate understanding of AAS adoption and disposition
policies and be able to communicate them to the public.
·
Have adequate familiarity with all AAS forms and their uses and
be able to route or file all paperwork in accordance with
standard shelter procedure.
·
Maintain all files neatly and appropriately. This task requires
adequate spelling and numerical aptitude as well as kneeling
and/or bending to reach files one to three feet from the floor.
·
Greet the public in a pleasant manner, being objective,
courteous, and reasonable at all times. Direct the public to
appropriate areas.
·
Maintain the front desk in a clean, neat and stocked manner.
·
Keep current on assigned /selected daily/monthly tasks.
·
Escort the owner of a lost pet through the shelter.
·
Keeps the data entry current and constantly checks for entry
errors.
·
Operates cash register and carefully maintains all records
necessary to ensure accurate cash, credit and check handling.
Follows necessary closing procedures and ensures the deposit
receipts are secured in the safe.

Determine applicant suitability for adoption according to AAS
policies and assists the potential adopter in viewing the
animals.
·
Counsel adopters in general care, training and ownership
responsibilities.
·
Respects the physical plant and equipment and reports all
problems to a supervisor as soon as possible.
PHYSICAL
DEMANDS:
Must be able to
lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Work that is performed both in and
out of the shelter which requires lifting, bending, stooping,
pushing and other moderately strenuous activities.
REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
·
Experience working in an animal shelter or closely related field
preferred.
·
Must have customer service experience.
·
Spanish bilingual preferred
·
Must have knowledge of or a willingness to learn about companion
animal care and behavior issues.
·
Should have the ability to quickly absorb and discern complex
issues, make principled judgments in a variety of situations and
be able to handle stressful conditions.
·
Must be functionally literate with computer systems used in
operations. |
