Anderson Animal Shelter is a non-profit humane society that receives no federal, state, or local funding. It costs more than $1,000,000 annually to cover operational costs and to provide food, shelter and medical care to our animals. The majority of this funding comes from generous individuals from throughout our community. With several ways to give, donors can be certain that their gift will suit both their financial and charitable intentions, however great or small. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the law. Anderson Animal Shelter will not share any donor information with any other organization or business.

beloved animal or human companion. Family or friends of the beloved one
will receive a card from AAS announcing your gift. The Guardian Angel Fund helps pay for the care and treatment of animals brought in to Anderson Animal Shelter that are sick or injured. Helping these animals in need is an important part of AAS's mission. Although the expense may be cost prohibitive for these AAS shelter guests, the transformation is nothing short of a miracle. Only through your generous donations can we continue this life-enriching work. Below are two stories of the animals helped by the Guardian Angel Fund: In the spring of 2004 Phoenix, a pit bull terrier mix (pictured above), was brought to the shelter, via a “good Samaritan”, with second and third degree burns on her body. Phoenix looked like someone had put her on a grill with burn marks across her back, sides and legs. She was emaciated and could barely walk. Who knows how long she waited by the side of the road for someone to help her? Our veterinary clinic began burn treatments on her that lasted for more than three months. She had a feeding tube placed in her because she could not eat on her own and an extremely caring foster parent took her into her home so she could recuperate quietly. Phoenix is doing great and now resides in her forever home. A friendly feline, Melvin, came to Anderson Animal Shelter unable to walk. He too was very thin and had apparently had not eaten in some time. Melvin had infected wounds on his rear legs, and after x-rays were taken we discovered he had suffered a broken pelvis. It’s impossible to know how long Melvin suffered with his injuries or how he sustained them. After long weeks of treatment, Melvin finally made it into the shelter’s Kitty Country area were he found his loving forever home.
If you want to help
an animal like Phoenix or Melvin,
Have your money go twice as far by getting a match from your company! Corporate matching gifts are a great way for AAS supporters to maximize personal contributions to the shelter and increase the impact of their gift. Many employers sponsor corporate matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions that their employees make. Your gift may double or possibly triple. Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
Contact your
company's human resources department to learn your options. Companies
have various methods by which you can submit your matching gift request
-- online forms, automated phone systems or a paper form that you submit
to AAS. If your company uses a paper matching gift form, please complete
and sign the form and send it to AAS. We'll do the rest. Planned gifts allow you to combine your charitable giving goals with your estate and financial needs. To help you meet your goals, Anderson Animal Shelter offers a variety of arrangements including trusts and bequests. Gifts of insurance policies and real estate are also popular ways of providing for the animals after your death. Here is sample bequest language you can take to your attorney: "I, [name], of [city, state, ZIP], give, devise and bequeath to the Anderson Animal Shelter, located at 1000 S. LaFox, South Elgin, IL 60177 [insert written amount of gift, percentage of the estate or residuary of estate, or description of property] for its unrestricted use and purpose." The Anderson Animal Shelter is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donation may be tax deductible as allowed by law. Additional information on supporting the Anderson Animal Shelter may be obtained by contacting our Executive Director, Sarah Hill, at shill@andersonanimalshelter.org, or call 847-697-2880 ext. 24.
